NicheIQ ("we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered creator intelligence platform that helps Instagram creators grow through personalized content analysis, trend intelligence, and AI-driven recommendations. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

When you create a NicheIQ account, we collect your email address, display name, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store passwords in plain text.

b) Instagram Data

When you connect your Instagram Business or Creator account through the official Instagram Graph API, we collect:

  • Profile information (username, biography, profile picture, follower/following counts)
  • Post data (captions, media URLs, thumbnails, hashtags, post type, timestamps)
  • Engagement metrics (likes, comments, shares, saves, reach, impressions)
  • Media content for AI analysis (visual descriptions, video transcripts)

c) Location Data

We auto-detect your approximate location (country and city) using your IP address via the ip-api.com service to provide region-relevant trend data. You can override or disable this at any time in Settings.

d) Chat & Usage Data

We store your chat conversations with our AI co-pilot to maintain session history and improve recommendations. We also collect basic usage analytics (pages visited, features used) to improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Content DNA Analysis — We analyze your Instagram posts using AI to build a unique content profile (content pillars, caption style, top hashtags, format preferences).
  • Trend Matching — We match trending topics from multiple sources (Instagram, Reddit, Twitter/X, News, Google Trends) to your content niche and location.
  • AI Recommendations — Our AI co-pilot uses your Content DNA and trend data to provide personalized content advice, captions, and growth strategies.
  • Content Audit — We analyze your posting patterns, engagement trends, and content performance to generate actionable improvement recommendations.
  • Embeddings & Search — We generate text and visual embeddings of your content to enable semantic search and similarity matching within your own posts.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to provide our platform:

  • Instagram Graph API (Meta) — To access your Instagram data with your explicit authorization via OAuth.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — For AI-powered content analysis, intent detection, and chat responses. Your content data may be sent to Claude for processing but is not used for model training.
  • ip-api.com — For IP-based location detection. Only your IP address is sent; no personal data.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in secure PostgreSQL databases and Qdrant vector databases. All API communications are encrypted via HTTPS. Access tokens for Instagram are stored encrypted and are never exposed to the frontend. We implement industry-standard security practices including JWT-based authentication, password hashing with bcrypt, and environment-based secret management.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Instagram access tokens expire after 60 days and require re-authorization. Trend data expires after 7 days. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Disconnect your Instagram account at any time
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data with the third-party services listed in Section 3, and only as necessary to provide the NicheIQ service. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

8. Children's Privacy

NicheIQ is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our platform. Your continued use of NicheIQ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
